Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Q: What is the policy about confidentiality?
A: Rest assured that all information is confidential.
This is a basic tenet with all the work Language Online does for any institution
or individual student. However, anything posted to the Internet can be
vulnerable.
Q: Is it ethical to obtain writing help for academic work?
A: It is essential. Ideally universities and colleges
would always have faculty or graduate students available to assist. The
reality is that is not always possible. Nevertheless, a writer, especially
one who is struggling with writing or who is rusty, needs an impartial
eye to assist with the tightening up of the writing process and to spot
inconsistencies. The idea with online tutoring or editing is to keep the
writer’s voice, but to assist said writer with gradual improvement
and an ever-increasing ability to write more fluently.
Q: Why will LOL not write my paper? Other websites offer
this service.
A: LOL is in the business of tutoring and editing. You
can only learn to write by practicing and receiving guidance. Furthermore,
this goes to the heart of academic integrity and the dilemma of passing
off someone else's work as your own. We want no part of that.
Q: Do you assist in any way with the content of my work?
A: No. This is your work. We do however help you improve
your expression and teach you how to structure your information. If the
logic and flow do not work, a tutoring session will look at these problems
and automatically help with improving existing content or point out gaps
in content.
Q: If I have any queries or comments, whom do
I contact?
A: Click this link and contact Desray
J Britz or a LOL staff member.
Q: How is the finished work delivered to me?
A: Electronic transfer – that is, sending the file
as an attachment to your personal mailbox. If working in the online LOL
classroom, you will upload and download work from the classroom.
Q: Can the work be delivered any faster?
A: We deliver a quality service at a sustainable speed.
No harm in asking though and an expedited rate can be negotiated if a
mentor or editor is available. On average expedited work will cost double.
Q: Can only a portion of a longer document like a thesis
or dissertation be reviewed or edited?
A: Of course, but not advisable. Experience has shown
that consistency of style is seldom achieved with only a partial review
or edit. A complete review or edit is what could make the difference between
an acceptable paper (or not) and an excellently presented paper. Also,
certain important formatting crosschecks cannot be implemented by the
tutor or editor if the whole document is not provided. But of course,
the choice is always the students.
Q: Do you take credit card payments?
A: Not at the moment, but possibly in the future. Does
affect the price, so for now we have elected the slower payment to keep
the fees down.
